Prevent falls and live independently

By Health Promotion

Health Promotion provides older people, their families, carers and health professionals with information and actions that can be taken to reduce the risk of falls and the injury from falls, enabling people to live independently in the community.

We also provide free presentations on falls prevention and healthy active ageing to seniors groups, aged care providers and TAFE students. Contact us on 4320 9700 to discuss arranging a presentation for you.

Falls prevention resources

Our falls prevention checklist includes 11 simple questions to help reduce your personal risk of a fall-related injury. Download the checklist and read the corresponding suggestions to find out how to make the changes you need to stay on your feet.

What to do if you have a fall

If you do experience a fall, it’s important not to panic, take a moment to assess the situation and decide whether or not you can get up safely. Download our What to do if you fall poster for advice. Why not print it out and keep around the house as a reference?

For a summary of advice and actions to take to help reduce your risk of falls and live independently, download our Falls are Preventable brochure.
