Good nutrition is important as we get older. Good nutrition will help maintain good health, strong bones, muscle strength and independence.
- Eat a wide variety of foods each day to help provide your body with protein, vitamins and minerals. Stay hydrated, especially in hot weather, by drinking fluids regularly, for example; water, milk, fruit juice, cordial, tea or coffee, soup and icecream.
- Have regular drinks in both summer and winter, as you age, you may not feel thirsty as often, even when your body needs fluid.
Dehydration, especially in summer can happen very quickly, causing confusion, dizziness and increase the risk of falls.
