| What are Q4s? |
Q4s are a series of questions and answers about childhood and adolescent overweight and obesity. They are designed to get people to ask questions, and to start discussing the factors that are affecting the obesity rate like television, computers, soft drinks and physical activity. The Q4s are used in newsletters, websites, bulletin boards and other publications relevant to families and people who work with children. You are welcome to use them. Below are some samples. For the latest Q4's (updated October 2008) click here (521 KB word doc) For previous Q4s (updated Oct 2007) please click here. (pdf 323KB). Contact us if you need them in a different format. |

The Q4 Mini Passport is here! |
This week your child/ren may bring home a Q4 Mini Passport – this is a fun way of keeping track of healthy behaviours for one week. Children are encouraged to replace unhealthy snacks with fruit and veggies, drink more water, and be more active instead of watching TV / using the computer. There are stickers for all children who hand in their passport at the end of the week, and draw prizes of Q4 tennis balls! |

What are we really drinking? |
One can of soft drink contains around 12 tsp of sugar. Drinking one can per day adds up to an astonishing 18kg of extra sugar per year! Even 375ml of apple juice contains 10 tsp of sugar! Choose water as a drink – it’s the best thirst quencher! |
