Keeping fit and healthy is important for everyone. Older people should do some form of physical activity, no matter what their age, weight, or abilities. Regular exercise can help you feel better and will give you more energy to do things you enjoy.

The more active we are the better the chance of keeping muscles strong and joints mobile. Being active also helps in maintaining good balance.

Be active for a minimum of 30 minutes at least 5 times a week (the 30 minutes can be broken up into several 10 to 15 minute sessions through the day). Include activities for fitness such as brisk walking, swimming, or group exercises. Activities such as tai chi and dancing can be especially good for balance and flexibility.
