This is the website for the Hornsby & Ku-ring-gai School Canteen Network (H&K SCN). The H&K SCN is a social and informative way for meeting school canteen managers in the Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai LGAs. Members share and gain support and information for implementing healthy food strategies and on the general running of the canteen. 


Our goals are to:

  • Make it easier for schools to run a healthy canteen

  • Tailor the support services we provide to meet the needs of our local canteens

How do we support Canteens?

  • Support the implementation of Fresh Tastes @ School and the Booster program.

  • Distribute network meeting agenda & minutes

  • Provide information on useful resources, programs and taste test new products

  • Run special events for members eg meeting up at the HKSCA Expo @ Homebush and tours to other Fresh Tastes canteens

  • Assist with promoting / launching projects

  • Providing advice & support on funding available(eg Health Promoting schools Seeding Grants, writing applications)

  • Attend school canteen meetings and any other relevant meetings.

  • Arrange speakers on topics of interest
