“Our
family keeps active by together delivering newspapers we also play
hockey and cricket. We tend to our veggie patch in our back yard.

“Me and my 3 year old son do all
the house work and yard work together. He carries the
vacuum cleaner up and down the stairs and when he has
had enough pushing, mum has a turn! He sweeps the yard.
We go to preschool on his little trike so he can pedal
fast down the hills and mum holds on his hand then uses
it to push him back up the hills. I can then leave his
trike at preschool and get a run in on the way back before
the day really starts. It just saves us taking the car.”
(The Peters Family, Terrigal) - PRIZE WINNER
“My two kids love to do a range of activities, so as often as possible,
we set up a backyard circuit, which includes such things as hula hoping
for a set time, going up and down the slippery dip a number of times,
doing star jumps on the mini tramp, shooting some hoops, dribbling
a soccer ball around the clothesline, hitting a golf ball into a bucket
and so on. When they have completed each event, they get a stamp on
their chart. Then they get to design a circuit for mummy and daddy.
The circuit continually changes so they never get bored.” (The Surya
